So I thought, maybe I could see what I would do and how I would do it. There was a friend of mine that I knew was going to take some consulting job, but they wanted me to help them with it. So I thought I might do that and apply for a business program. So I applied and was accepted into the University of Phoenix. So I was in the business program, which is a part of a degree in Business Education, so in other words, there were an MBA program for business education and a Business Professio nal's program that focused on making money, which is part of the business environment in today's society. I think I need to start somewhere, and if I am going to get something going in life, I want to get it from the ground up.Well, I went online and there was a network of opportunities online where you could network and learn about the whole world, with real students as your partners, and learning from each other, getting valuable information, and meeting people that you couldn't just find on any course anywhere. The Issue Of Gun Control Essay - 1646 Words

President obama said at a press conference on October 01, 2015 â€Å"The solution to such violence is obvious. It cannot be this easy for somebody who wants to inflict harm on other people to get his or her hands on a gun.† (Simple Minded Gun Control). Gun control is a controversial issue worldwide. The reason why this has attracted so much attention is because not everyone is in favor of gun control and each side brings up excellent points about the issue. Research related to this issue strongly supports the claim that there SHOULD be more gun control laws. Three arguments that prove this position are (1) Incidents like Sandy Hook will be less likely to occur (2) It reduces the high rates of accidental deaths (3) As the years pass by and technology updates the laws should be up to date as well. Members from the National Rifles Association state that No law-abiding American should be forced to face evil with empty hands. I say I agree with President Obama there SHOULD be more gun control laws because it should not be as easy as it is for someone who wants to inflict harm on others to get their hands on a weapon. One argument in favor of the claim more gun control laws being put into play, is so that more incidents like Sandy Hook will be less likely to occur. More specifically, it will lower the chances of a criminal or someone who is not in their right state of mind to get their hands on a gun. How to Substitute for Baking Powder and Baking Soda

Baking powder and baking soda both are leavening agents, which means they help baked goods to rise. They arent the same chemical, but you can substitute one for another in recipes. Heres how to work the substitutions and what to expect: Substitute for Baking Soda:  Using Baking Powder Instead of Baking Soda You need to use two to three times more baking powder than baking soda. The extra ingredients in baking powder will affect the taste of whatever you are making, but this isnt necessarily bad. Ideally, triple the amount of baking powder to equal the amount of baking soda. So, if the recipe calls for 1 tsp. of baking soda, you would use 3 tsp. of baking powder.Another option is to compromise  and use twice the amount of baking powder as baking soda (add 2 tsp. of baking powder if the recipe calls for 1 tsp. of baking soda). If you choose this option, you might wish to omit or reduce the amount of salt in the recipe. Salt adds flavor but it also affects rising in some recipes. Substitute for Baking Powder: How to Make It Yourself You need baking soda and cream of tartar to make homemade baking powder. Mix 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part baking soda. For example, mix 2 tsp of cream of tartar with 1 tsp of baking soda.Use the amount of homemade baking powder called for by the recipe. No matter how much homemade baking powder you made, if the recipe calls for 1 1/2 tsp., add exactly 1 1/2 tsp. of your mixture. If you have leftover homemade baking powder, you can store it in a labeled, zipper-type plastic bag to use later. Cream of tartar is used to increase the acidity of a mixture. So you cant always use baking soda in recipes that call for baking powder. Both are leavening agents, but baking soda needs an acidic ingredient to trigger the leavening, while baking powder already contains an acidic ingredient: cream of tartar. You can switch baking powder for baking soda, but expect the flavor to change a little. You might wish to make and use homemade baking powder even if you can purchase commercial baking powder. This gives you complete control over the ingredients. Commercial baking powder contains baking soda and, usually, 5 to 12 percent monocalcium phosphate along with 21 to 26 percent sodium aluminum sulfate. People wishing to limit aluminum exposure might do better with the homemade version. Do Baking Soda and Baking Powder Go Bad? Baking powder and baking soda dont exactly go bad, but they do undergo chemical reactions sitting on the shelf for months or years that cause them to lose their effectiveness as leavening agents. The higher the humidity, the faster the ingredients lose their potency. Fortunately, if youre concerned theyve been in the pantry for too long, its easy to test baking powder and baking soda for freshness: Mix a teaspoon of baking powder with 1/3 cup hot water; lots of bubbles means its fresh. For baking soda, dribble a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice onto 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Again, vigorous bubbling means its still good. Baking powder and baking soda arent the only ingredients you might need to substitute in a recipe. There are also simple substitutions for ingredients such as  cream of tartar, buttermilk,  milk, and different types of flour.

Raising Tuition Rates - 1074 Words

Raising Tuition Rates Tuition rates have been rising exponentially since â€Å"World War II and the GI Bill†¦Ã¢â‚¬ which allowed for, â€Å"†¦an explosive increase in the number and proportion of Americans who go to college† (Nathan 148). This change, though largely due to inflation, has been rising past what families can afford to pay, and has led to difficulties for students exiting high school. These difficulties have been seen by campuses, and many already have a plan to help these students pay for the rocketing tuition prices. This escalating problem has been caused by multiple entities, individuals, and ideals. Firstly, between 1985 and 1995, the federal and state funding has decreased by almost twenty-five percent, and since then has decreased to account for only fifty percent of the public university’s budget, as more of the government’s money has been allotted to the needs of the country’s healthcare, welfare, and prisons. Also, unive rsities have increased the percentage of their budgets allocated to administration roles, mostly in an attempt to influence government and to market their degree and certificate programs (Nathan 149). Furthermore, a study performed by, â€Å"William Bowen, now president of the Andrew W. How Can Artificial Intelligence Help Us Essay Example For Students

How Can Artificial Intelligence Help Us? Essay The first person that I have interviewed is Ella, she is an NYU Graduate who is working as a Web Designer and is earning approximately $45,000 a year. She lives in Brooklyn, New York for seven years. Ella claims that she liked Dodge Grand Caravan as her first choice. First of all, she likes the ad because its a family car that serves/fits all her needs. Secondly, she likes this ad because the color red is her favorite color. According to Ellas interpretation, she feels that by looking at the advertisement about the Dodge Grand Caravan a person will get all the explanation he/she needs. Her second choice was Volvo which looks like a very nice car, but does not apply to the need of a customer. She would prefer to know the features that the car is offering. She feels that the name of the brand is hidden because its all the way on top and on the edge that it would not be visible to the eye of the customer. Her third choice was Ford Expedition, because looking at the magazine ad she feels that it explains the variation of the car. However, she thinks that the ad does not apply why it was advertised for and that there is not enough description to the car. Her fourth choice was Suzuki, because she claims that the ad itself takes a person attention. Therefore, she also liked that the typeface S and Suzuki overlaps on top of each other. Her Fifth choice was Toyota, because she thinks its a nice looking car, but the theme that was used for this ad is a little bit funny. She feels that way because the theme does not fit to the description of the car. Her suggestion for this ad is to create more ideas, (i.e. the name of the brand should be visible; the slogan should be different in the sense that it should apply to the description of the car). Her first choice was the All new Dodge Grand Caravan, because of two reasons: First of all she said thats its a big family car and it is red color which caught her attention very fast. Second, this model contains a lot of details that can help her get as much information as she needs. Her second choice was Ford Expedition, because it gave her a good impression since she likes to travel a lot and therefore this appearance fulfills her needs. She feels that this car ad claims that it can handle traveling. In addition, it has different models and nice logo. She feels that this advertisement needs to put more information about this model. Her third choice was Suzuki, because the liked the comparison between the Suzuki and the cheetah, which transforms into high speed. In addition, she feels that the car is luxurious and big enough for the family. Also it gives enough information and has a good description of the car. Her forth choice is Volvo; she claims that it is a powerful car and can handle all the roads. She likes what it says on the side Volvo for life, but she also feels that there is not enough information about the features of the car. Her fifth choice is Toyota; she feels that it is not a very successful ad because it doesnt convince her to buy the car. She thinks that the car is too far, it needs to be closer a good man is hard to find Essay For example, Anderson Consulting applies a knowledge based system to commercial loan officers using multimedia (Hedburg 121). Their system requires a fast IBM desktop computer. Other systems may require even more horsepower using exotic computers or workstations. Even more exotic is the software that is used. Since there are very few applications that are pre-written using AI, each company has to write its own software for the solution to the problem. An easier way around this obstacle is to design an add-on. The company FuziWare makes several applications that act as an addition to a larger application. FuziCalc, FuziQuote, FuziCell, FuziChoice, and FuziCost are all products that are use! d as management decision support systems for other off-the shelf applications (Barron 111). In order to tell that AI is present we must be able to measure the intelligence being used. For a relative scale of reference, large supercomputers can only create a brain .

Sex Education in the Classroom Essay Example For Students

Sex Education in the Classroom Essay Contemporary Moral Problems T/TR 11:30-12:45 In todays society there is an on going debate over sex education and its influence on our children. The question is no longer should sex education be taught, but rather how it should be taught (DeCarlo). With teenage pregnancy rates higher than ever and the imminent threat of the contraction of STDs, such as HIV, the role of sex education in the school is of greater importance now then ever before. By denying children sex education you are in a sense sheltering them from the harsh realities they are bound to encounter. Sex education has become an essential part of the curriculum and by removing the information provided by this class well be voluntarily putting our children in danger. Therefore, sex education should be a part of the curriculum for children in the junior high Many children in junior high know there are sexually transmitted diseases, but many do not realize just how threatening these diseases are. Living in a small community, many youth believe that getting a sexually transmitted disease will never happen to them. But our children need to know that there are diseases in our country like Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Genital Herpes, Genital Warts, Hepatitis, and even AIDS. Since 1986, Syphilis cases have increased by 100 percent (Haas and Haas 441). These kinds of facts need to be brought to students attention. However, just because we inform our children of these diseases does not mean that they will not catch them, but they still need to be informed of the number of diseases that are incurable and can lead to death. Diseases, though, are not all our youths have to worry about. Pregnancy is another major concern. The United States has the highest rate of teen pregnancy and births in the Western civilized world (Shake Heights). Our teens need to know that infants born to teen mothers are much more likely to have health problems (Shake Heights). By informing them of birth control, we are not necessarily saying it is ok to go and have sex, but if they choose to, they will at least be knowledgeable. If we choose not to inform them, it then becomes at least partly our responsibility that they became pregnant. In addition to informing children of diseases and pregnancy, we can teach them responsibility, and avoid having to deal with a decision on abortion. In Arizona alone last year, there were 11,738 reported cases of abortion (AZ Abortion). Today the simplest abortion procedure that can be performed generally costs around 300 dollars (Glazer). Also, 83% of our counties here in the United States do not even provide facilities where abortions may be performed (Glazer). The decision to abort a pregnancy can scar a teenage mothers life no matter what decision she make. To keep the child means hardship, but not to keep the child can also be mentally frightening. Teaching our children about sexuality and making them more knowledgeable about it does not convey the message that sex is ok. How much can we really control our children when we cannot be with them every minute of the day? Some parents are scared to talk to their children, so the help at school could benefit the child and parents, and possibly stop a major hardship from occurring in the childs life. These topics can be taught in a sensitive manner, but it seems clear that if our children know more about diseases, birth control, and the responsibilities of sex, they will at least be a little wiser when making their decision. The Invention of the Refrigerator free essay sample

Hello! Today I am going to talk you about the invention of the refrigerator. I chose this topic because I think we all cant imagine our lives without food, so we also cant imagine our lives without the refrigerator. Im going to present you this topic with the help of power point and I really hope that in the end of my presentation you will know something more about refrigerators. The invention of the refrigerator The conveniences we enjoy in our homes are the product of many machines we use every day to make our lives easier. We must be aware that it is only because of dedicated inventors that have spent years of their life, searching of a way to make all this possible. Were talking about machines such as the refrigerator, for example. The idea of a machine that would be able to prevent food spoilage has actually been around for a very long time before the invention of itself. We will write a custom essay sample on The Invention of the Refrigerator or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page It was only in the late 1834 that Jacob Perkins, a young inventor after making a design persuaded John Hague to realize his idea, and like that the first kind of refrigerator was born. Early attempts In the beginning, there were made ice houses   to provide cool storage for most of the year. These ice houses were placed near freshwater lakes or packed with snow and ice during the winter. As we can see in Thomas Jeffersons diary, which chronicles the process of maintaining the ice house at the Monticello Estate, this processes were very complicated. Every winter, Jefferson brought more than 60 wagonloads of ice from the Rivanna River to keep his ice house filled. The ice house was a huge source of trouble, just by the expense of keeping it stocked. While Jefferson was busy keeping his ice house stocked, Benjamin Franklin working with chemist John Hadley in 1758 was leading us to the invention of the refrigerator. They were experimenting with the effects of evaporation using a thermometer. With some methods they were able to drop the thermometers temperature well below freezing. Perkins and his impact In 1834 a young inventor called Jacob Perkins build the worlds first refrigerator and invented a legal patent for refrigeration using vapor-compression. Soon, what was meant to be just an experiment became something fit for commercialization and other inventors tried to develop Perkins patent. In 1856 following Perkins success,  James Harrison, an immigrant from  Scotland   living in  Australia, developed an ice making machine using  ammonia  and an ether compressor. It was used in the meat packing industries of Geelong, Victoria. Few years later, Carl Paul Gottfried Linde, a  German  engineer developed refrigeration and gas separation technologies. Carl Paul Gottfried Linde (better known as Carl von Linde)   was working in the way of develop new refrigeration cycles. In 1892 Lindes research drove into the area of low temperature refrigeration and in 1894 he started work on a process for the liquefaction of air. In his later career Linde began working on a technique to obtain pure oxygen and nitrogen based on the fractional distillation of liquefied air. By 1910 Carls son Friedrich had developed the Linde double-column process, variants of which are still in common use when it comes to air separation in three main gasses: oxygen, nitrogen and argon. CONCLUSION In the 1920s and 30s, consumers were for the first time introduced to freezers – that was the time when the first electric refrigerators with ice cube compartments came on the market. Even so, the mass production of modern refrigerators didnt get started until after World War II. Few decades later when innovations like automatic defrost and automatic ice makers first appeared, it became clear that more energy-efficient refrigerators are needed, if not, there will be a huge environmental damage. The conclusion soon leaded to the elimination of chlorofluorocarbons in refrigeration sealed systems and the introduction of energy-efficient refrigerators. Today, the refrigerator is Americas most used appliance, found in more than 99. 5% of American homes. We are all aware that if this invention had never been invented our lives would be much more complicated. For example the food spoilage would be 5 or 6 times quicker. Besides that, we would be still forced to store our food in ice houses. With this conclusion I end my presentation. I hope you enjoyed and thank you for your attention. =)

The Pertrachan sonnet, comprising of fourteen lines with two sections, an octave (8 lines) and a sestet (6 lines), was at its peak. Shakespeare diverged from this style of sonnet in form and subject matter. He preferred to write his sonnets in what is called an English sonnet (Shakespearean), comprising of fourteen lines with two quatrains (6 lines) and a couplet (2 lines) summarizing the poem. He also rejected the idea of portraying his beloved in a perfect way, most notably in Sonnet 18 ‘Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day’. Donne on the other hand rejected the Petrachan conventions completely in regards to subject matter, as Donne was obsessed with death. His sonnets however did take on the form of the Shakespearean sonnet. In the Sonnets being analysed they both have a common theme of death. Inflation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Inflation - Essay Example There have been cases around the globe known as hyperinflation. Though there is no official definition for it, it is generally accepted as a 50% annual inflation rate. Ecuador suffered through a 96% inflation rate in 2000 ("Background Note: Ecuador"). This was caused by a weak economy, massive debt from El Nino in 1998, and a floating currency. The president was ousted in Jan. 2000 and caused a 75% spike in a one-month period. The new government restructured the debt, privatized state owned industries, and tied the currency to the US dollar. The following years saw lower rates and it had dropped to 1.9% in 2004 ("Background Note: Ecuador"). The war and economic hardships in the former Yugoslavia resulted in inflation rates in the period 1971-91 of 69 percent, with hyperinflation of more than 50 percent per month in 1989 (Hanke). According to experts, Slobodan Milosevic triggered the hyperinflation by granting $1.8 billion in unauthorized credits to Serbian-owned enterprises (Hanke). It was only brought under control when the war ended and a new government was installed. Though the UAE and Dubai have not seen these rates of inflation, it has been on the rise in recent years. It was 2.8% in 2002 and is estimated to hit 20% in 2006. That was up from 10.5% in 2005 ("United Arab Emirates"). The rate was 3.2% and 4.6% in 2003-2004.
